David Cann as Robert

Star of cult classics including "Jam"and "Brass Eye", comic genius and renowned actor David Cann makes his fringe debut with Schadenfreude Productions.

A British actor of "the old school", David Cann trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and completed his apprenticeship in rep. David has marked out his own career path in classical and modern drama, TV, film and radio, playing as wide a range as possible; comedy, tragedy, pantomime, straight plays, musicals and experimental work on the London fringe. As a leading man and character actor with a powerful presence on stage and a subtle naturalism on camera he combines the gift of an excellent speaking voice with a "dangerous" physicality.

Jonathan trained at the Birmingham School of Acting after studying Theatre at Dartington College of Arts. He worked earlier this year with director Garrett David Millerick and producer Roopesh Parekh on the acclaimed short film Infamy, and is thrilled to be working with them again on "A Life in the Theatre"; the play also sees Jonathan reunited with David Cann, with whom he has worked with on a number of previous projects.

Garret David Millerick, Director

Garrett made his directing debut with a production of Ben Elton's Popcorn at the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe. Popcorn's short run proved a resounding success both critically and commercially, sell-out performances gaining five star reviews from leading critics at the festival. Following its run at the Edinburgh Fringe the show enjoyed a short tour of the South Coast.

Garrett was educated at the University of Southampton and graduated with a BA in Modern History and Political Science. Following his graduation Garrett founded Schadenfreude Productions as a platform to develop film and theatre projects.

Roopesh Parekh, Producer

Roopesh wrote and directed his first full-length stage play The Innocence for the Leicester Haymarket Theatre at the age of 15. Having subsequently founded and run a successful youth theatre group, Drop Back Productions, Roopesh began working on the New Writing Partnership with the Derby Playhouse and produced and directed a further two stage productions of new writing.

Having graduated from the London College of Communication with a first class honors degree in Film & Video, Roopesh went on to produce 26 short films to date, under his company Rivers & Talent Productions, including 10 Bulls (Best Experimental Film, Da Vinci Film & Video), Love Is Like (Official Selection: Hampton's Film Festival) and Call Me Harry (Official Selection: Clermont-Ferrand Festival). Most recently, Roopesh won the Triangle Media Group award for Producer of the Year 2006 and was accredited as one of the top 10 achievers in the UK in Global Mainstream Media.

John-David 'JD' Marsters, Lighting and Original Score

JD has worked with Schadenfreude Production for several years on a variety of both theatre and film projects. He has designed the lighting and written original scores for all of their recent productions and received critical acclaim for his work. Previously, he has worked at length with both the Rattlesnake Theatre Company and the Nuffield Theatre as a lighting designer and consultant pyrotechnician.

JD is both a keen musical performer and an accomplished composer. His work as a jazz trumpeter has been featured in recordings by bands as diverse as Panama and Jellybass and his performances as a pianist have earned him a variety of festival awards. As a composer, the breadth of musical styles with which he has worked is considerable, from cathedral choral works to dance tracks that have received national radio airplay. He has recently been awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton.

Florence Chow, Production Designer

Florence graduated with a BA (Hons) in Design for Performance at Central St Martins. During her time at St. Martin's, Florence worked with Theatre Company Punchdrunk (2006) where she helped with set design and construction for their sell-out production of Faust, a critically acclaimed modern production, and subsequently worked on their production Masque of the Red Death (2007).

In 2007 Florence also collaborated with the University of Ohio, America, and designed the theatre production The Shape of Things, managing all aspects of design within the show. Florence has also worked with Soho Theatre and helped set design and construct the promenade piece called Moonwalking Chinatown (2007). After an extended run of film work, A Life In The Theatre sees Florence return to her passion for theatre design.
