A Life In The Theatre
"Two actors, some lines... and an audience. That's what I say. F**k 'em all."

actor David Cann makes his fringe debut with Schadenfreude Productions, alongside
Jonathan Rhodes (Confetti) in a revivial of David Mamet's 1978 two hander, A Life In

The story follows the actors from their many incarnations on the stage to their clearly divided roles off stage. Robert, the elder of the two, is wracked with bitter jealousy as he is forced to reflect that his career is largely behind him. Meanwhile his co-star, John, a young and vibrant actor, faces a bright future as a leading man. The interplay between the two provides a funny and often moving examination of the generational hierarchies present in society.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is awash with contrast. It attracts a wide and ever growing audience of millions every summer. It has in the last fifty years built up a mythical status as the "Gold Rush" city amongst the artistic community. Following a brief hiatus from the fringe, critically acclaimed company Schadenfreude Productions and director Garrett David Millerick return to the fringe with a piece that offers a little reflection on Edinburgh's ever growing frontier town status.
